and the winner is.....

As promised, yesterday Ellen the Dog and I drew the winner of Stuart's Million Paws Walk competition.

Ellen and I agreed that as she needs to watch her weight a little we would use tennis balls to determine the winner, rather than the usual snacky treats.  Ellen was a little disappointed that she wasn't able to gobble sausages or meatballs this year, but she's delighted that she now has 36 shiny new tennis balls.*

Every entrant (except Mathew, who elected not to be part of the competition) received one entry for every $10 they donated.  Each entry was written on a tennis ball (with names abbreviated in the case of Curry Hoover and nerdonsafari), and then Ellen was asked to select the winning ball.

Prior to the draw it was decided that the first ball that Ellen clearly lifts off the ground in her mouth would be the winner.

Thank you very much to everyone who so generously donated to the RSPCA.  Thanks to you, Ellen was the equal ninth highest fundraiser in the ACT.  It's a great cause, and I'm delighted that the money raised through this competition will go directly to helping animals in Canberra.

A very special thanks to Duane Morrison for composing the music for the film.

And thanks to Ellen and Stuart for doing their job perfectly and with a great sense of rhythm.

*Only 29 balls were required for the draw, but what was I to do when they were cheaper by the dozen?

win $200 worth of stuart's jewellery!

Stuart the Cat is has been very busy getting Ellen the Dog in shape for her fourth Million Paws Walk on Sunday 19 May 2013.

They've both been carb-loading and ensuring they are well-rested for the big event.  Stuart even tells me he's been doing crunches, but he seems to have misunderstood what that means.  I had to tell him that crunching Fancy Feast was not going to give him ripped abs.

Unfortunately Stuart now has other commitments on 19 May, so he's going to get Lisa to take Ellen walkies.  Ellen is not disappointed.

Stuart is very proud to be running his fourth Million Paws Walk competition this year.  In recognition of your generous donations to this great cause, one lucky sponsor will win $200 worth of Stuart's jewellery.

For each $10 you donate to Ellen's fundraising page you will receive one entry in the prize draw.  So, if you donate $50, you get five entries.  All donations are greatly appreciated by Stuart, Ellen and the RSPCA in Canberra.  Donations above $2 are tax-deductible.

If you would like to make a donation, please visit Stuart's fundraising page at http://www.millionpawswalkfundraising.com.au/stuart_cat.

Donations received up to 11:59 on May 25th 2013 will be eligible for the competition.  The prize draw will be conducted on Sunday May 26th, and the winner will be notified by email on May 27th.  On this day, Ellen will also post an entertaining and cinematically brilliant film of the prize draw on this blog.  You can see last year's prize draw here.

Thank you for supporting this fantastic cause, and good luck to all of Ellen's sponsors!
